Naples Pier - Naples Florida
If there is one place that would be considered a “must see attraction” in Naples, FL it would be the Naples Pier. Located off the west end of 12th avenue south on the Gulf of Mexico, it is one of Naples’ most historic landmarks. The Pier was built in 1888, but through fires and hurricanes, multiple reconstructions were needed. In July of 2015, the Naples Pier was shut down for the launch of a much-needed renovation. It soon reopened in the beginning of November of 2015. Through years of wear, tear, and reconstruction it remains one of the most iconic landmarks in the city of Naples, Florida.
Coming in at number three on the Best Florida Fishing Spots, the Pier is well known for its great fishing opportunities. This region is not just good for fishing but also very well known for its opportunities to fish for sharks. Fishing here does not require a license as the City of Naples has purchased a bulk fishing license for the landmark. The Naples Pier provides two fish cleaning stations, drop nets, and you can even purchase live shrimp and basic tackle at the snack shack. This wonderful spot hosts numerous types of fish including Snook, Trout, Sheepshead, Spanish Mackerel, and on occasion, Cobia. While you don’t need a fishing license, you must comply with the rules and regulations of the Naples Pier.
If fishing isn’t your cup of tea, there’s no need to worry. Besides fishing, the Naples Pier is wonderful for taking in the beach atmosphere and strolling the boardwalk as well as the beach itself. Sit under the shaded gazebo to enjoy the beautiful views of the blue ocean and white sanded beach around you. You can lay out on a beach chair and bask in the sun to work on your tan. The soft sounds of waves crashing in the background as you feel the sun warming your skin is sure to make you feel as if you are in pure paradise. Gaze at the ocean and you may even spot a dolphin or two exploring their home of the ocean waters! From being one of the most historical landmarks to being one of the best fishing spots to enjoying the scenery, the Naples Pier is second to none. Take a stroll down the shoreline and take in every bit of nature there is that’s surrounding you. Maybe even play some beach volleyball with the nets that are already set up and waiting for an intense rally. Don’t forget about the concession stand on the Pier itself that has snacks and drinks as well as live bait for the fishers! If you ever have the chance to visit the Naples Pier, you should absolutely do so. Seeing the pinks and oranges of the sun setting behind the Pier is one of the most beautiful and breathtaking sights to be seen and something you wouldn’t want to miss!
