Dr. Weiland earned his Doctor of Chiropractic (D.C.), Master’s degree in Sports Science and Rehabilitation, and Bachelor of Science in Life Sciences from Logan College of Chiropractic in Chesterfield, Missouri. While at Logan, he was selected for an internship in the Logan Biofreeze® Sports Rehabilitation Clinic, where he gained extensive experience working with athletes at a variety of levels. His early clinical experience included working with athletes from the University of Missouri (MIZZOU), Lindenwood University, Missouri Baptist University, and hundreds of youth track and field athletes throughout the St. Louis area.
Following graduation, Dr. Weiland moved to Vail, Colorado, to complete his Master’s internship with Vail Integrative Medical Group. After completing the internship, he was invited to remain with the practice as an associate doctor. Working alongside chiropractors, physical therapists, and medical physicians in a multidisciplinary setting helped shape the philosophy he continues to bring to patient care today: patients often achieve the best outcomes when healthcare providers collaborate and treatment addresses the entire person rather than simply a diagnosis.
During his time in Colorado, Dr. Weiland had the opportunity to work with professional snowboarders at the BURTON® U.S. Open Snowboarding Championships and world-class dancers participating in the Vail International Dance Festival.
Since making Southwest Florida home, Dr. Weiland and Gulf Coast Spine & Sport have become deeply involved in the local sports community. For more than 10 years, the practice has worked with Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) Athletics, helping student-athletes stay healthy, recover from injury, and perform at their best. Gulf Coast Spine & Sport also works with the Florida Everblades professional hockey team of the ECHL. These long-standing relationships reflect Dr. Weiland's commitment not only to sports medicine, but also to being an active and trusted healthcare resource within the Southwest Florida community.
Dr. Weiland has continued to pursue advanced education throughout his career. He is a Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician (CCSP®) through the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians and a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. He is also Full Body certified in Active Release Techniques® (ART®), certified in Dry Needling, and a Certified Kinesio Taping Practitioner (CKTP). These advanced certifications allow him to incorporate a variety of treatment and rehabilitation techniques based on each patient's individual needs.
His commitment to continued learning has also led him to expand his education beyond musculoskeletal medicine. Dr. Weiland recently completed a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and became a Registered Nurse (RN). He is currently continuing his graduate education in a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) program. This additional training reflects his ongoing desire to broaden his understanding of healthcare and provide patients with increasingly comprehensive, evidence-based care.
For Dr. Weiland, continuing education has never been about simply adding credentials. He believes that the more he understands about the human body, movement, rehabilitation, and overall health, the better he can serve his patients. Whether working with a professional athlete, a collegiate athlete, a weekend warrior, or someone simply trying to live without pain and remain active, his goal is the same: identify the underlying problem, provide the appropriate treatment, and give each patient the tools they need to achieve long-lasting results.
